With the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club hosting this years Dart 18 Nationals – it was a dead cert we were going to be supporting the event.  As ever the Windsport’s Support Team is Ever Present and we arrived early on Friday to set up in preparation.

We even provided a coaching session for  a select group of crews who had pre arranged it with the local club too.

The Dart 18 Fleet is the biggest club sailor catamaran fleet in the uk and has an active National GP Series with many social events attached too.  This year it look like we have lucked out with the weather as we have had wall to wall sunshine for both the set up and the first days racing.  The Stunning beach looks like something that would not be out of place in the Mediterranean with all the boats rigging up for the first day on the water.

Windsport wish the fleet fair and fun sailing and will be on hand to offer their traditional welcome back to the boat park with lashings of Pirate Cider before the real partying begins.  The Dart 18 Family offer all the crews and supporters legendary parties and is one of the reasons the Class continues to offer such a popular option for so many sailors.

Windsport would also like to take this opportunity to thank their suppliers who continue to allow them to produce and supply new and replacement items.  RWO Marine, Hyde Sails and White Formula are instrumental in allowing us to continue to offer the service we supply as Windsport Support and as the manufacturer of the Dart 18 Worldwide.

Day2

Not too much happening on the water on day two at start time this morning but lots happening at the Windsport event support trailer! Sailors checking out the replacement parts available , rudder servicing and technical
questions all sorted and answered.

Paul Chatfield sailing the Windsport race boat singlehanded is leading the uni-rig fleet after day one with a very credible 3rd in the first race in a boat straight out of the box.
The fleet  are finally leaving the beach into very light airs but the sun and the land are due to draw in a breeze from the sea in the next  hour or so.
Meanwhile the  stage for tonight’s band has arrived on site thx to Neil andBrown International Haulage  promising a great nights entertainment , and the famous local Fish& Chips supper has been ordered.

With so many families on site and children running around and enjoying theirtime together  last night the inflatable climbing wall and ladder went down a storm with every age including a few adults having a go.

Dart  catamaran choice of event locations is about involving everyone in the family on and off the water. While some of the family are having fun on the shore mum dad, son daughter are getting an early taste of racing Darts on the water.

The event notice board is not just about results. The Kim Stephens Trophy the one trophy everyone who has contributed to the family of Dart can be rewarded with.
Thank you to Kim and all those Dart sailors who have made Dart 18 sailing such a success.
