Fiona Carruthers draws out the winning entry

Today Windsport has announced the winner of the Catamaran Coaching competition:

David Woolston

With the help of Fiona Curruthers, grand-daughter of Ian Fraser of PantherCraft and Dart Catamarans, the draw was made in front of the Windsport Reception at Mylor Harbour.  Cookie Phipps and Celia Fraser watched as Fiona stepped up to pull out the lucky winners details.

David gets two days of top catamaran coaching from the windsport team in the Carrick Roads off the Windpsort Centre.

Windsport performance catamaran coach ‘Brian Phipps’ headed up the Datchet SC coaching session sponsored by Ireland’s Spitfire youth team sailing.  The weekend focused on the many aspects of communication, critical to the success of any team . Light winds created challenges the sailors had not experienced for some time and the structured exercises, tested teams to the limits and was followed up with debriefs and exchange of techniques to helped broaden individual knowledge.

Coaching is the natural stepping stone to improved performance. Windsport’s professional catamaran coaching team, deliver to clubs , classes,  national squads and individual teams  in the UK and much further abroad. For more information contact the Windsport team

sailing teams from the two major catamaran clubs in the region. The intensive coaching sessions took place from Lantau Boat Club on the beach at Discovery Bay a short ferry ride from Hong Kong Island. A series of group and individual coaching sessions were on offer leading up to the main catamaran regatta event of the year in the region. The range of catamarans sailing in Hong Kong requires  a broad depth of knowledge in numerous types of boats, Hobie 16, Dart18, Nacra Fusion, Hobie Tiger, Nacra 500 and a few others, something that Windsport delivers. Such was the success of the Windsport coaching there is a plan to do it all again early in 2012 while the wind still blows! Windsport has been providing specialist catamaran coaching in the region for over 12 years, working with a number of sailors who have gone on to sail at world class events with medal success.
